“In Bad Teeth, poet Sean Michael Galvin puts our era into words, digging out the ugly heart of masculinity, mental illness and modern life with gut-tightening candor and sneak-attack humor that sublimates them into something viscerally relatable.

Whether reckoning with the wreckage of a schoolyard fistfight, trudging through anxiety and depression with psychedelics, or trying to make sense of relationships and find the higher order of things, these are poems that creep up on you with impossibly spare lines that leave nothing unsaid as they snatch the air from your lungs.

Bad Teeth gives an unflinching glimpse into the cracks in our world and what it’s like to live inside them, a record of our time that leaves you feeling less alone by the final page.”

About

Sean Michael Galvin is an American poet. He is the author of two poetry books: Dog Deer (2010) and “Bad Teeth: Poems By Sean Michael Galvin (2022).

Sean’s writing is raw and honest with a clear intent on inspiring connection through sharing stories of the challenges of navigating modern life and relationships. At times, toeing a tightrope between chaos and order, Galvin pulls beauty from the darkest of spaces. He hopes that his poems might spark conversations on mental health, gender roles, masculinity, empathy, and exploring the human consciousness.

When he isn’t writing, Sean can be found behind a drum kit, in a record store, in the forest, or near a large body of water.
